ASA via Dialup
How would I access ASA if I didn't have a network connection and needed to use dialup? It's for an s8300/g700 and I do have an analog line to the avaya modem?
Also, if for some reason dialup wasn't available how do you connect directly to the console to use ASA? I know there's something to setup on the PC first but I've never done this and have no detailed instructions. |

Re: ASA via Dialup
To configure ASA for a new dialup connection, click on the icon under the word "File" at the top of the screen. This will open an "Add Voice System" window, just follow the prompts.
First you name the new system, click next, modem connection is highlighted by default, click next, device will be analog modem, click next, select the com port your modem is on, click next, port setting defaults should be ok, click next, enter phone number to be dialed, click next, leave defaults on this screen, click next, choose automatic login or manual login, if you choose automatic login the next couple screens is where you set up your login and password. You are now at a screen that lists all the selections you made, click back if you want to change anything. If not, you can test it here to make sure it connects, if not then click next. Now click finish.

Re: ASA via Dialup
Do you have customer access to the INADS port? Log into the S8300 and list logins, look at the logins and make sure that they say INADS port access is yes.
Also what are the logins you see from your access level?

There is no "console" port on the S8300 (although there is on the G350/G700/Gxxx). To physically access the S8300 you will need to connect a network cross-over cable to the "Services" port on the front of the S8300. Your laptop's ethernet port should be configured as 192.11.13.5 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.252 and you should telnet to 192.11.13.6 TCP port 5023. regs, .al.

Re: ASA via Dialup
Depends on the CM version and if telnet is enabled. Newer releases (4 and 5) require you to establish an SSH connection not telnet. Still use the 192.11.13.6 address but check the SSH button on page 2 or 3 when you set up ASA.
Why can't we all just go back to 9.5, much easier then. |

Re: ASA via Dialup
Ok I'm having difficulty with this. I am working remotely so there is a remote login into the switch taht I'd just need to change the password for. So on a laptop with XP I have to setup a PPP connection first but what is the criteria for that? Meaning what fields and tabs have to be setup?
Once that end of it's done and you hear a connection then what do you do.... just launch ASA?? I'm very confused and cannot find doc for this anywhere. |

Choose "anyone's use" 8. Choose "finish" Open the properties of the connection just built above: 1. OPTIONS tab: Uncheck "Prompt for name and password, certificate, etc. 2. SECURTIY tab: Check "Show terminal Window" 3. NETWORKING: Uncheck "NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS…." 4. NETWORKING: Uncheck "Client for Microsoft Networks" 5. NETWORKING: Uncheck "Client Service for NetWare" Setup Avaya Site Admin with New Site Connection: 1. Setup new Network connection 2. IP adress of the processor 3. Port 5023 4. Re: ASA via Dialup
Ok, i've followed the steps for the connection. I've added a remote user id but everytime I go to login after the connection hits i get login/password pairing is invalid. I don't get what's wrong.
