Avaya 3641 Wireless telephone. Anyone have any experience with these?

I'm reading the documentation right now and waiting on a charger for the set we have obtained (apparently it is sold separately) but I was wondering about the Avaya Voice Priority Processor and whether it is necessary for this set to work. We are planning on attaching these to AP's served by our Aruba wireless network, my second question would be whether or not Aruba is incorporating this QoS mechanism into their servers.
I have more research to do on this issue but thought I would post to the forums to see if there were any users in the community.
TIA

Well - I managed to set up 8 X 3631 wireless with Cisco APs, using the same QOS settings (as we would on our fixed lan) and we have had no problem working without an AVPP.

Did have problems with the Hansdset firmware - If you have a 7 digit dial plan , you will need to upgrade before actually getting them to work.

Yes. The AVPP is required for the 3641 to work. Matter of fact the 3641 will not even complete it's boot or register with the PBX unless it sees the AVPP first.

The 3641 set is an Avaya OEM of Spectralink's Netlink 8000 series sets. I actually had to goto Denver to take the Spectralink (Polycom) installation class in order to be certified to install them.

You can check out Spectralink's material here: Mobile Communications - Products - Polycom (PolyCom bought them last year or year before).

These are pretty nice sets. I just completed a major roadtrip where I installed 20-30 3641's in thirteen different branches of a "high end" retail department store (Hence, my virtual disappearance from this site).

regs,

The 3631 is an Avaya OEM of a Samsung 802.11 set and does not require the AVPP. The 3631, while a BEAUTIFUL set, often has a problem with it's handoff from AP to AP. I have a HUGE customer who dumped all of their 3631 sets in favor of the 3641s and they couldn't be happier.

Thanks Al. I will be requesting a quote for the AVPP server.
