If you log in as sa you'll find it under the "Customer Services/Administration" menu. Backup strategies are as wide an varried as the customer personalities who implwmwnt them. I recommend at least three (3) tapes at a minimum: two (2) to rotate daily and one (1) to store off-site and rotate in weekly or monthly. Many folks have six (6) sets: one (1) for each weekday and one (1) for off-site. Implement one that suits your needs and agrees with level of comfort.

Yes. There are DATA backups that should run nightly (providing your timetables are setup correctly) buy the cmsadm backup is run manually and should be run at least once per month.

Re: Audix backup/restore
I am scheduled to reboot my Velocity this Friday night. I want to run a backup prior to the reboot.
My log shows my backups run approximately 3:00A.M. If I run the backup during business hours is it service affecting?? I have to reboot the sytem remotely via dialup. I am pretty sure you first have to stop the Voice System and then shutdown the system.. is that correct? How am I able to do all this without the connection dropping? What if it does drop.. will I be able to dial back in and be where I left off? How does that work? |

Re: Audix backup/restore
I remember Avaya Tech Support telling me that th unattended nightly backups do NOT back up everything. When I perform a manual backup I have 4 sets of data I can backup. I always say yes to all of them.
1. System Data 2. AUDIX Announcments 3. AUDIX Names 4. Greetings and Messages. I understood (and I could be wrong), that the unattended backup only took care of the System Data. Can someone clarify this. Thanks Joe |

Re: Audix backup/restore
Quote:
Depending on the amount of user data on your system, the unattended backup may not save all data types. Unattended backup backs up all system data, then backs up as much of the other data types as possible, as described in Partial Unattended Backup. Therefore, you may want to run an attended backup to copy other types of information for security and recovery purposes. Partial Unattended Backup If the unattended backup cannot store all of the data types on the backup medium, the system backs up the System Data files and as much information of the other data types as possible. If the system performs a partial unattended backup, the backup log shows that the backup was completed successfully. The system generates an additional log entry: BKRST029. To detect and address partial unattended backup: 1. Start at the INTUITY Main Menu and select:
Verify that there is an entry with today's date and the following text: Backup process has been completed successfully. If an entry with today's date does not exist, the unattended backup was not successful. regs, .al.
