A little telephone humor
A couple of entries on my blog related to telecom... In Passing At Work A group of people were in the elevator and suddenly a voice started coming over the speaker... "This is a message from The Radiology Group...." People looked around confused and I said, "There is an emergency phone line in the elevator. Someone must have the number by mistake." The message went on and on and we stopped at another floor where a man got on. He looked at the panel where the voice was coming from and said, "Niiiiccee." No one said anything for a moment so I said, "We couldn't afford music." Everyone cracked up and another man said, "Just random phone calls."
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I was in the kitchen at work and the Claims Department manager said, "Hey Phone Lady, are we still a go for getting the new phone system this summer?" I said we were working on it. He said, "Are we going to run out of money and only every other person gets a phone?" I said, "No, but we can only do inbound calls." He said, "I like the way you think."

Re: A little telephone humor
Funny.
To continue in this vein - Many years ago I was working on some KTS equipment in a store in one of our shopping malls. As I was working on the key equipment there was a major power failure in that part of the city. About a square mile went dark. The store manager came back to ask me what I had done to make the power fail. I told him that I unplugged the key equipment and without it online everything stopped. He said "oh" and walked away.

Re: A little telephone humor
I was doing an install in downtown Chicago. With little information from the customer and facilities manager to what the phone numbers were going to be for the new tenants, I was worrying of making my cut time. I was to get with the telephone guys of the building to find out the phone numbers supplied to the tenants.
I could not find the building phone guys, but did find the unmarked lines in the floor closet. In my haste to ID the lines, I called my office that had caller ID to tell me what the numbers were that came up on there phone. When I called, I got our receptionist. I asked her to please read back to me the number that she saw on her display. She replied " oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh". Which I replied " Do it slower and with more feeling." |

Re: A little telephone humor
I had a call this morning from a user who said, “I called the operator because I have a problem with my phone and they said to call you.”
“What’s the problem?” “When I call someone or get a call it isn’t showing the name and number on my display. It’s just showing something strange.” “What’s it showing?” “It says dirctimebtn” I’m thinking ‘btn’? Bill To Number” Is something wrong with the caller ID? Then I realized… “Press the round ‘Exit’ button under the display.” He was in the Menu and it was reading Dir CTime BtnVu Prog
