Is it normal??

to have to block at least 2 numbers a month from calling your did number because someones computer keeps dialing your number late at night and filling your voice mail with empty messages? sometimes i really think aol or someone has my number in their directory by mistake. thanks to you guys i learned to make a vrt and block them but how often does that happen? im told the last person who had my number also had similar problems. i have started calling the numbers back and normally i dont get an answer until the modem tries to dial again and tries to seize the line. sometimes i get sleepy sounding people who think im crazy and sometimes i get people who admit they are trying to set up a dial up account. i havent gotten a live one lately so i dont know if there is a common isp or not but please tell me im not crazy and this isnt normal. i think the best was last week when i was in the smokies on vacation and didnt have web access to stop my work line from forwarding to my cell or block the number. each night at about midnight my phone would start ringing and ring every 5 minutes for 2 hours before it stopped. feel free to point and

No it is not 'normal', but it can happen.
Are you using PRI for inbound calls and do you have a call accounting system? Might be able to see what number is calling you and then have your provider find out who it is.

Just a thought, but they may be spoofing their CID.

Re: Is it normal??

yes and yes. just set up ecas at the end of december and it is really nice to now be able to block the numbers that wake me up at night the next day. i dont think its a spoofed number because many times when i call them back, it rings until the modem tries to reconnect and i get an autodial in my ear. one early person admitted they were setting up internet but at that point i didnt think it was odd enough to ask what isp
