Switch Integration
If 2 companies were to merge with 2 different phone systems how is that handled. If the distance between offices is a mile away from eachother what is the best practice to link the 2 systems? Also, what happens if you want to create 4 digit dialing between and there's a dialplan clash?
I do not want to move to 5 digit extensions so is there a way in UDP to manipulate the sytem to be able to dial to this newly linked site 4 digits if the ranges are the same on the main switch ?? |

Re: Switch Integration
Universal Dial Plan is what you would use, that is what Avaya calls it but the other vendor might have a different name for it. This will allow you to set up four digit dialing between the two switches. It would also work better if you set up T1 tie lines between the systems, otherwise you will have to set up the route patterns to add the PSTN part of the numbers.
To have true four digit dialing between the two switches, each station number must exist in only one switch. You can have overlapping dial plans as long as each number is ONLY assigned in one switch. If you have the same station number assigned in both switches, someone has to change their number. If station 1234 is working in both switches when you go off hook and dial 1234 the PBX is going to follow your UDP rules. If you have it set up to look at the far switch first the only person you can call is the person in the other system. If your rule is set up to check local first you will only be able to call the number in your switch. In the last example you can call the other station but you would have to dial the TAC+1234. That is not four digit dialing but that is the only way you can use UDP if you have the same numbers programmed in both systems. This will require that your people know which PBX the person they want is located.

Re: Switch Integration
There are dialplan clashes with duplicate extensions. We will be putting pt.-pt. lines between offices. When you say you have to dial the TAC.. i'm assuming that will be the number of the new pt.-pt. trunk that gets created??
