Re: TN2501 (VAL Board)

1) Attach the black ethernet dongle to the amphenol connector and plug it into an ethernet port on your network that's locked at 100MB/Full. 2) "change node-name ip" and add the name and IP address 3) "add ip-i PPCCSS" where PPCCSS is the slot address of the board (i.e. 02A03) and complete the form. Under "Enable Ethernet port" make sure this is set to NO (we'll come back to that). Under "Ethernet Options" turn off auto and set to 100MB/Full. 4) "add data-module xxxx" where xxxx is a non-DID number in your dialplan. Type = ethernet, port = PPCCSS33 (i.e. 02A0333). 5) "change ip-i PPCSS" and enable the ethernet port. 6) Test using ping ... i.e. "ping ip 192.168.1.1 board 02A03 r 5" 7) You're done. .al.

Re: TN2501 (VAL Board)
Thanks Al,
As far as the IP address. I'm going to have to get that from my network folks. I'm assuming it can be a static address in the same block as say my CLAN boards etc.. ? |

Re: TN2501 (VAL Board)
Now setup your VAL manager for administration and backup. VAL has a Scheduler that can be configured to save the wav files to a network drive. Good idea in case the board crashes.

Re: TN2501 (VAL Board)
I am about ready to add a TN2501AP to our MCC using (S8710 R012x.02.0.111.4)
I like the instructions AHAYS provided, but I would like to know: Once the card is in and a static IP is setup, what do I do from there? In other words: Is there software I need to download, to be able to access the card? How do I setup who gets messages, what messages, options the caller hears, etc? any help is appreciated! n2p |

Re: TN2501 (VAL Board)
Do you have any TN750 announcement boards in your switch now? If so, the VAL is used in exactly the same way. You can even record announcements in the same way, from a handset.
If this is your first announcement board, all it holds are announcements. How you get to those announcements (and how they are used) is determined by your vector options and PBX routing options (for example, the announcement a caller might get if they called a nonworking number).

Re: TN2501 (VAL Board)
This is the first. No other card. Or experience.
Previously this 'feature' was being done using Intuity Audix auto-attendant, which I am trying to move away from. so I guess we would need the vector options and PBX routing options that you mention. Is this fairly straightforward? n2p |

Re: TN2501 (VAL Board)
If you have never done VDN/vector programming before, that can get to be a rather involved conversation so I am not going there right now except for a couple questions.
What is the software release of your PBX? Type "display system cust" and look for the page with call center features (in my switch it is page 5), what vector options are enabled? In the PBX some uses for announcements are queue announcements for hunt groups, unused DID intercept, and outward dialing restrictions. But the biggest use will be with vectors.

Re: TN2501 (VAL Board)
I did a 'display cap' and the 1st tab shows
G3xV12 for memory config The 12th tab shows: software load: R012x.02.0.111.4 "display system cust" shows Call Center Release: 12.0 Vectoring (Basic)? n Vectoring (Prompting)? y Vectoring (G3V4 Enhanced)? n Vectoring (ANI/II-Digits Routing)? n Vectoring (G3V4 Advanced routing? n Vectoring (CINFO)? n Vectoring (Best Service Routing)? n Vectoring (Holidays)? y Vectoring (Variables)? n |

Re: TN2501 (VAL Board)
I am going to make some suggestions here. You are not using any vectoring now because nothing is enabled other than holiday vectors which is the default. You want to move your call routing out of the voice mail to the PBX and VDN/vectors are the best way to do that but you need to enable those options.
The first issue you have is your software is release 12 which is equivalent to CM2 (Communication Manager 2). Avaya supports the current release software and two older releases. People here have been asking questions about CM5 which means that is now out or imminent, I do not work in that field anymore so I am not sure. Al can answer that question. If CM5 is out that means Avaya supports CM3, CM4, and CM5. Which puts you just outside of support. If you act quickly, you might be able to get your vectoring turned on. But how much do you need? There are folks here far more knowledgeable on vectoring than I am, so I will let them help you. My suggestion is to open a new thread asking for VDN programming help with the message you just posted above as the beginning of that thread, right now you are buried at the end of an unrelated topic. In that message explain what you want to do, that is, move from an auto-attendant to the PBX for call routing. What vector options do you need enabled to do this? They will ask you some questions and then make recommendations for what you need at a minimum. I can write vectors and I can modify them but we have every vector option enabled here so anything is possible. I don't think you need to spend that much money.
