4622 - Audio Quality Issues - Help !

Hi

We have a new site gone live - S8700's ESS'd with a mixture of 4610,4621 and 4622 handsets. Cisco 6513 backbone - Voice on seperate VLAN's,etc,etc.

We have major issue especially with users on headsets - They can barely hear the customer who has called in and customers complain that the background noise is too loud . I have recorded calls in Witness to play them back and it is indeed extremely hard to hear the customer and the headsets are picking up far too much background noise.
We have played about with the settings.txt file and adjusted ENv settings,etc - no real improvement.

Any ideas how to improve this quality issue :
* to reduce background noise
* decrease agents level back to the customer
* increase volume of customer incoming side ?

The noise in the area worst affected is approx 70-75Db

Re: 4622 - Audio Quality Issues - Help !

We use G.711MU for our larger sites and G.729A for our smaller sites.

I've noticed headset issues as well with new IP phones. The new AWH55+ wireless headsets seem to work great. I've had a few issues with the old plantronics headsets. If replacing the batteries didn't help, I would adjust all settings on the headset until it sounded better. Some, I just had to upgrade.

I'm just thinking outloud here. I'm sure you've already tried these suggestions. I have been fighting static and cell-phone-like quality for a few months now myself.

The biggest issue we were able to resolve, that helped tremendously, was our network QOS policies and COS settings from our end and ATT's end. We made voice traffic priority 1 and made sure our BW settings were the same.

Probably not much help, but thought I would throw a few things we did to get better quality.
