Remote Announcement Administration
Anyone have any bright ideas for allowing remote administration of announcements without using remote-access? I've tried some VDN/Vector configs but haven't been successful. Wondering if anyone has a successful solution?? TIA

Re: Remote Announcement Administration
Are you trying to record an announcement or just change it's configuration?
If configuration you just need a way to log in. If recording, I think you are stuck with remote access. However, you can setup a "back door" for RA using a non-DID extension and 14 digit password. Set up RA to require an access code (7 digits) and also an authorization code (7 digits). Create a DID VDN to a vector the collects 7 digits and routes to RA. Set RA to not prompt or send dial tone. Thus 14 digit pin. Works. |

Re: Remote Announcement Administration
Very nice, that does work well. My customer wants to be prompted thru each input to change the announcements, however. So, in the end of vector processing i would want to route to a digit string where they could immediately start recording without any additional input. Vector variables are 16 digit max, my dialplan is 5 digit, plus 5 digit barrier for remote access, plus 3 digit FAC, plus 5 digit announcement ext, plus single digit action = TOO MANY!! I could give them an initial announcement that says something like " please enter your announcment extension and action code (1 to record, 2 to listen) at the tone" then route to remote access, barrier, FAC... That's about as good as it will get for them. Thanks for the input.
