Spontaneous Calls

We are having an issue where sometimes what will happen is that the phone will start ringing at one of our stations, user picks it up but they will hear ringing on the other end and the other end will reply like our user was calling them. There's no apparent pattern as to who might be on the other end either.

Haven't seen anything suspicous in the logs or when I do a display errors either. It's looking like it's a external problem, but before I go any further with this I would like to see if anybody else have had this problem before.

Thank you.

Re: Spontaneous Calls

I have seen this before and every time it has been someone playing a prank. How it is done is the trickster calls one station (or external number) and before they answer, he/she transfers the call to the unsuspecting victim. So each end believes they are being called by the other person.

If one end of the call is to an external destination, your call accounting will have a record of who initiated the call. If both ends of the call are internal, it is a little harder to catch them.

The PBX is not smart enough to do this by itself so don't bother looking there any longer. There is an employee doing this.
