Map100p R5

I am building an Intuity MAP 100P and I am wondering if the RAID controller needs to have a terminator on the ouside connection. The drives are not lighting up the LED except when active and it comes up when booting that they are not responding. I have made them online and flashed the system. I have used 2 different machines and bios configs have been checked. I do get an error that says SCSI BIOS not installed. I haven't done this in a while but I may have narrowed it down to that termination but I'm not sure if does require it on the RAID controller board. It is not the SCSI terminator board that has the terminator adapter on it. Does anyone know?

Re: Map100p R5

If you are using standard Avaya parts for this, Avaya does use SCSI drives. Their SCSI bus still requires a terminator at the end.

Re: Map100p R5

Yeah the drives are SCSI and I have the SCSI terminated. The problem is that the drives are online but the led lights aren't lit and I get an error that says SCSI BIOS not installed when booting. I did initialize the drives and while that was working the lights were lit but quickly went out when I was done.
When I try to load the software I get to the point to where I select the machine I am loading in my case MAP100P/SCSI/RAID. From that point it says at the bottom that it is working and it gets stuck there for some reason. I let it run all night and it never changed from that selection screen.
There is a RAID controller card in the machine and on the outside of it (back of the machine) there is a connection that may host an adapter or terminator similar to the SCSI terminator but I am unsure if that could be the problem or not.
Thanks

Re: Map100p R5

I have a RAID 5 controller card in a PC at home and the external connector is for adding an external drive to the RAID array.

Did you get the drives from Avaya or buy them at your local computer store? If you did not get them from Avaya, that could be your problem. Avaya puts a header on their drives and the MAP100 is completely proprietary. The BIOS could be looking for that header before continuing.

Re: Map100p R5

Yes it is an all original Avaya machine with all of the parts. In fact I am now trying 2 different machines but I am out of any other resources. All of the documentation that I've used is from Avaya and I'm no stranger to Intuity Audix machines and these procedures of building from scratch or reloading software from no operating system. I just can't seem to find out if there's a termination on that RAID board. Map100 is rarely requested and it's been about 3 years since I've done one.

Re: Map100p R5

It has been a while since I have done a MAP100 myself. My old memories tell me that you set the SCSI ID on the drives, put the terminator on the last drive, run your SCSI daisy chain cable, plug that into the card it goes to and terminate the other SCSI connector on that card.

Re: Map100p R5

Some SCSI drives will require you to set the SCSI ID (numbers 0 thru 7). Might be worth checking. For a system with multiple SCSI devices, each device must have a unique bus ID.
