T1 to E1 Connectivity

Greetings,

Need configuration assistance in connecting a T1 on Avaya 8700 to E1 on Nortel Option 81C using QSIG protocol. Have the Telco carrier doing the channel mapping and got the D-Channel to come up when they mapped T1 channel 24 to E1 channel 16, but cannot get any B-Channels to come up.
Has anyone done something like this? Is this even possible?

Thanks

No, it is not. However, using a TN464 you can install an E1 in the S8700 and do E1-to-E1 ... quite common with overseas connectivity.

Re: T1 to E1 Connectivity

As long as you are not connecting to the PSTN in the US, an E1 is not supported here yet.

On the TN464 that Al mentions are two small slide switches, one of those switches sets the board as a T1 or E1 board.

Setting the companding to mu-law will only work if the other system is also set to mu-law.
Both switches have to be the same, either mu-law OR A-law. (A-law is quite prevalent outside of north america.)
