Re: Lucent 715-GBCS-2
Let me expand...I am by profession a Field RF Engineer...one of the tasks that has been dropped in my lap is providing PBX support for our field offices. I have almost no experience with PBX systems (not much call for them in a wireless environment). I think this is good experience for me, and I hope to be able to use this forum as a good resource. Any guidance on the proper way to ask a question: ie additional equipment info, serial numbers, model numbers; etc., would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Lucent 715-GBCS-2
Ok, problem somewhat resolved....the port the 6408D+ was on is hung up in the system. We had to move the phone to an adjacent port to get it to work. The system still shows the previous port in use, even though there is no device on it, and no pairs in the punchblock associated with that port. We need to delete that port to free up the information associated to that port to assign it to another device. How do we delete a port that still says it's in use, with no device on the port? thanks!!

Re: Lucent 715-GBCS-2
Try the busyout station command. I am not sure if you will have it with a customer level login. Typically a busyout and release will clear a port that is hung up like that. You might need to call your BP or Avaya support to do that.
Taking away the busyout/release and test functionality from the customer logins was one of the most annoying and frustrating things that Avaya ever did. Filth flarn filth... |

Re: Lucent 715-GBCS-2
The 715 terminal is just that.....a terminal. The actual switch is something different and there are different kinds. This can be a Definity Si, Prologix, G3R and the list goes on. If you type in "rem st" (abbreviated) it will bring up the command remove station and enter the station number you wish to remove.
You will be directed to the admin page of that station and if you hit the enter key on the number pad it will complete the command. Also if you want to find out the release on your switch type in the command "newterm" and that will tell you the release. |

Re: Lucent 715-GBCS-2
I think you are misunderstanding me. There is a command called "busyout station" or "busyout port." Once the port or station is busied out, you can release it with the command "release station" or "release port." These commands are entered on the console itself, which is used to administer the switch. However the login that you have might not allow you to use those commands. Typically if you are doing administration for your company your login is referred to as a "customer" level login. It only has certain permissions. A business partner gets another type of login which gives them greater permissions. Avaya themselves have other level logins that allow them to do more things. In theory the idea is that they only let you do certain tasks so that you don't inadvertently screw up your system. However sometimes it is really just an excuse to charge customers for maintenance work that the customer could do themselves. When you are logged into the console try typing "busyout port xxx" where xxx is the port you are having trouble with. If it completes the command then type in "release port xxx". This might not work though, as the system might tell you there is no such command as "busyout."

Re: Lucent 715-GBCS-2
Thanks for all the info! Tried all with no luck. Is it possible that the port could be hung on the card? It's a Destiny switch. We ended up going with a different port and a new number for now. Will return later and try again. Thanks again!! I'll keep you posted.

Re: Lucent 715-GBCS-2
If you don't have the busy command, you can accomplish the same thing by unseating the circuit pack. This will cause all the other phones on that pack to quit working for a while also, but if your problem is software it will be cleared.
However, there are several flavors of Definity and we do not know what you have yet. We need to know that before telling you how to reseat the circuit pack. Type "list config soft" and look under the heading SOFTWARE VERSION. What does it say there? Give us the entire line.

Re: Lucent 715-GBCS-2
Marty,
Had to leave the field office yesterday with a temporary solution. I was unable to get the software info for the switch. I should be able to return to that office next week. When I do, I'll pull the info and post back. Thanks!! |
