CMS Storage Evaluation
In the grand adventure of ever expanding contact center business requirements I was asked today to greatly expand the number of VDNs being recorded by the CMS. Actually the number of measured VDNs would double (maybe slightly more). However the call volume (and therefore necessary CMS storage space) would not increase very much. Basically the contact center is going to start getting the 0-out calls from the office's voice mail system and they want to be able to track each department's contribution to these calls. We all ready have a good idea of the call volume since these calls now go to the live attendant.
I was able to find the thread from last year which had instructions on how to increase the number of measured VDNs. However I am not sure how to look at the storage currently being used on the CMS and how much storage is available. Also if anyone has any ideas on how best to evaluate this data it would be helpful. I would bet that it is not as straightforward as seeing 40% free space and thinking everything is okay. The PBX in question is a v9, with version 9 CMS (obviously). Any ideas or thoughts would be helpful. Thanks! |

Re: CMS Storage Evaluation
You have to increase the amount of measured VDNs within CMS as well. Use the Free Space Allocation screen under System Setup to see how much space is allocated to the DB and how much is used - Available space should always be a positive number. Basically you use this table to assign disk space to the DB, then use Data Storage Allocation (under System Setup) to modify each element that is measured. When you increase measured elements, the amount of free space in your DB decreases. The amount of tablespace a measured element requires is fixed, so no matter if that element is recording data (say a measured VDN that takes no calls), it still requires the same amount of tablespace. The CMS docs describe the process pretty well...
