Seamless Call Routing
I am connecting a Definityr G3R v11 to a non-Avaya switch via two PRIs. The non-Avaya system will have extensions in the 4000 range, and the G3R will not have any 4xxx extensions. We do 4-digit dialing on campus and I would like to set up seamless call routing between the two switches. Can anyone give me some advice on how to make this happen? I have both PRIs up, and have set up a trunk group. I'm just not sure how to tell the switch to send the 4xxx calls to that trunk group. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Re: Seamless Call Routing
add an entry to your universal dial plan - point all calls where dialed number 4 (all patterns) min 4 digits, max 4 digits points to your tandem trunk group.

Re: Seamless Call Routing
I appreciate your assistance, but am not sure I understand yet. I can't use the ARS or AAR tables since I do not want to be forced to dial an 8 or 9 before the 4xxx. I see a uniform dial plan, but I don't see how to link it to the trunk group. In the "dialplan" I can list call type, but not a method for dealing with any particular call.

Re: Seamless Call Routing
Certainly.
First, let's assume you want to use a 4-digit number to dial across a set of tandem trunks - tie lines to another phone system, T1 or E1 span to a fax server, the usage does not matter. The pattern is 6xxx. When you build the trunks, you assign a Route Pattern to it; for this example let's assume your route pattern is 88. You will set up an entry in the universal dial plan table, to define how to handle the 6xxx pattern, by adding UDP entry with the following: Matching pattern 6 Len 4 Del 0 Net aar Conv no This tells the system all 6xxx calls are to use AAR to define where the calls route. Then in your AAR table, set up the following: Dialed String 6 Min 4 Max 4 Route Pattern 88 call type aar This will force any calls of pattern 6xxx to the trunks associated with route pattern 88.

Re: Seamless Call Routing
Assuming you also have a release 11 or higher and we will use the number range that started this thread (4000-4999).
Type "ch uni 4" and enter in the first field a "4", then len of "4". Delete "0" and leave inserted digits field blank, in the net field enter "aar". press enter. Type "ch aar an 4". Make min and max entry of "4", select an unused route pattern and call type "aar". Type "ch ro xxx" and enter the trunk group you want to use with an FRL of "0". now all calls to stations 4000-4999 will go out the trunk group connecting to the other PBX.
