ARS Problem

I have a ARS problem. On a S8700 the customer is located in Virginia. One number in Colorado, 719 567 XXXX gets a fast busy or intercept when called from any station. I called this number from my cell phone and I can reach it every time. I did other test from the same stations and I can reach Florida (305) and Washington state (253) numbers with no problem. I did a “list ars route chosen” and all three types of calls to area codes 719, 305 and 253 all take the same route pattern 5. So it can’t be a FRL problem because they all use the same route pattern and the ars analysis are the same for all three area codes. It has me baffled.

Dialed String Min Max Pattern Call Type ANI

1253 11 11 5 fnpa n
1305 11 11 5 fnpa n
1719 11 11 5 fnpa n

Re: ARS Problem

Did you do a list trace on the staion when you placed the call and if so what were the results of that?

Re: ARS Problem

It's not you, it's your customer's LD carrier - they need to have routing set up for that office code in their own network.

From NANPA's list of utilized office codes:
State NPA-NXX Ocn Company
CO 719-567 7801 "ICG TELECOM GROUP - CO"

I had a similar problem this week with AT&T - they couldn't route to another ICG NPA-NXX in Oregon....

Re: ARS Problem

Thanks Ko and oozenoz

Ko I did a "list trace" on that station and it showed it going over the same route pattern and trunk group as the other area codes.

oozenoz I believe you are right. I going to check with the carrier and make sure that NPA-NXX is in their toll switch.

Question: what is the "ICG TELECOM GROUP-CO"

Re: ARS Problem

Sorry, should have probably spelled that out a bit better but was in the middle of several things at once.

ICG Telecom Group - Colorado

ICG was a CLEC in the northwestern part of the country - they were recently bought out by Level3....

Here's the link to the NANPA main page - if you ever run into questions about what NPAs and NXX are actually in use or changes or upcoming release dates or overlays. I'm subscribed for their announcements - it's free.
