ipsoftphone/vpn
our users aren't able to establish a connection with ipsoftphone over vpn. On Avaya's website they have an section for this issue telling to disable qos packet scheduler. Since that's all it says.. does that get done on the VPN server or on the NIC's of the specific machines trying? I tried disabling this on my NIC and it still didn't register. Softphone works fine internally.

have you discussed this with your network team who administer the vpn? make certain they are not firewalling the ports you need to connect. the packet scheduler is a windows device. if you are disabling it on your nic, that probably won't be enough because a separate driver is usually active when you are connected via your vpn. you can tell by connecting and logging in, then going to your network settings and looking for the active network connection. being able to change this may require the driver is active (it won't have an ip address, so you won't be able to access the advanced adapter settings for the TCP/IP protocol) and depending on the security settings and permissions allowed to the casual user, you may not even have the ability to change this when you have an active connection
