Coverage not working, G350 to S8700, Over IP network
I recently installed a new G350 at one of our remote locations. Everything is working fine except when someone from that location calls an extension on my S8700 it does not go to coverage.
The remote user calls the extension, I see the call go over my IP network (Frame Relay), my phone rings, I don't answer, the user hears the coverage tone, but the caller keeps hearing rings. The call never goes to coverage. I tried different coverage paths, one to Audix and one to another extension but I have the same problem with both. When I do a "list trace station" and watch the call , the S8700 activates the coverage path and then activates the covering extension, the problem is it never rings. Any Ideas? can u paste in the list trace on your extension, but do it twice - once from an extension on the 8700 (this i assume is working) and one from a remote extension that fails
also, can u clarify something - set the coverage to a neighboring phone, and verify what happens when the call coming from the remote phone is routed to coverage - does the covering extension ring?

Thanks for your help. Here is the trace. my extension on the s8700 is 2264 , the extension on the g350 is 4652. Station 839 is Audix and coverage path 164 is my Standard Voice Mail coverage for the entire company. Coverage does work s8700 --> g350 but not g350 --> s8700.

Sorry, but I guess I wasn't clear enough on what I was asking.
Set up coverage for your extension 2264 to another station on a nearby desk. Call 2264 from another phone with the list trace running - the call will route to the coverage phone, I would like to see this trace as a benchmark. Then call 2264 from 4652 - with the list trace running on 2264 (there is no need to monitor what is going on with the calling station) - and verify whether the call is redirected to the covering extension.

OK,, here are the traces, one of my neighbors calls me from 2304 and I set my coverage to go to 2714. That worked, 2714 rang and we could answer the phone.

Which side has 170.7.102.4 and which has 170.7.15.205?
And a dumb question, are the COS/COR of the extensions on the G350 the same as those on the S8700? (probably worth eliminating the basics before we get too deep into other stuff)

170.7.102.4 is the S8700 Medpro board on the local side with extension 2264.
170.7.15.205 is the G350 on the remote side with extension 4651. We have the same COR and COS except that my extension (2264) has console permissions. |

Ok, so on your trace when 4651 calls 2264, it's showing packet loss; whatever that person is hearing is probably the result of out of band signalling, rather than there being a voice path opened between the G350 and the S8700.
This is looking like it could be a signaling issue between the two, possibly on the config of the network interface. You aren't using VoIP trunks between these two are you?

No, not useing VOIP trunks, this is across a 256KB Frame relay link. 256KB CIR 268KB port.

jitter itself is a measure of changes in signal characteristics (frequency, pulse duration, etc.) that you don't have all zeroes means there is some variance in the signal; but it does not mean that it's destroying the connection. if you can make a call from one side to the other (both directions) and can talk, then i wouldn't worry much about it because frame is not a perfect transmission protocol - and i certainly wouldn't think it's causing your issue with the coverage path not being followed.
it's been my experience that coverage not being followed is the result of a conflict of restrictions, where a certain type of call is not allowed to be routed to a coverage point, such as internal calls may be forwarded and external may not. i can't think of anything on a gateway interface that would cause this, and since you aren't using trunks and the extensions are of the same cor/cor, that's the only place i can think to look. honestly, at this point i would suggest you contact your business partner and if necessary ask them to get avaya tier 3 involved.

Just wanted to let everyone know that we fixed this problem by working with Tier 3 support at Avaya and the had us apply Patch # 13341 to both the S8700 and the S8300 in the G350. Thanks to everyone for their support.

These forums are the best! Exact same problem I was working on today. Calling from a G3si to an S8300 with G350 over IP trunks with 4-digit dialing. Not sure if it's the same solution since it was working when I created the trunks and tested on 1/24. My test calls went to voicemail. Now when I call, a trace reveals that it rings the station, goes to coverage which is the hunt group for vmail, but rings no answer. I'll check it out with Avaya support.
