Unable to resolve a POWER alarm in an MCC
I have an MCC with a minor POWER alarm and the following errors.
'Display Errors' 12 POWER 257 1 01/09/09:08 01/09/09:08 1 0 0 a y 12 POWER 1 0 01/09/09:08 01/09/14:25 43 8 4 a y 'test environment 12 short repeat 1' TEST RESULTS Port Maintenance Name Alt. Name Test No. Result Error Code 12 POWER 5 FAIL 8 All other tests pass. According to the BOOK, this indicates a failure of the Battery Charger or the Batteries. I have replaced both and am still unable to clear the minor alarm caused by this. Has anyone experienced similar trouble with the Batteries or Charger? Or do you have any tips on resolving this error.

Re: Unable to resolve a POWER alarm in an MCC
The card that reports this problem is the TN775 in that cabinet. I have seen this problem before and the solution was to replace the TN775. The false alarm cleared once I did that.

Re: Unable to resolve a POWER alarm in an MCC
I had that same error and went through the same routine, fortunately we ended up taking out the PBX the next week, so we never got to the bottom of it :)
The next thing we were going to look at were the curls, or Current Limiters. I'm a newer Avaya tech, so the MCCs are ancient to me. I'm just repeating what I was told...

Re: Unable to resolve a POWER alarm in an MCC
Thanks Marty, we will try replacing that TN775.
OctelWarrior, we thought about the Current Limiter but couldn't find any tests that would indicate it's failure.

Re: Unable to resolve a POWER alarm in an MCC
Over the decades that I have been working with Definitys, and the 100s of machines that I have touched, I have never encountered a failure of the current limiter in service. They will fail if you put them in upside down and turn the PBX on but you will smell that immediately. I would put that possibility at the bottom of my list of possible causes.

Re: Unable to resolve a POWER alarm in an MCC
Well before I replaced the Maintenance pack, I went and tried another Charger battery combination and the alarm has since ceased. Oh well.
