Upgrading multiple VAL's CM3.1

Has anybody upgraded the FW on multiple VAL boards at once? I typically have scheduled FW updates 1- VAL board at time in the past. I noticed under the firmware dowload screen the "self" source option, and was wondering if all the VAL's boards could be scheduled under the same download screen. Any adivce would be much appreciated. Thanks!

dr2535,

I recently tried to update all my medpros all at the same time, by scheduling it. Medpro and Val boards cannot use the scheduled upgrades screen to do more than one of them at a time. Medpro and Val boards must be both source and target.

Have you ever FTP the FW to each board and chose "self" in the source field and populated all of the boards in the target fields? Wondering if that would work.

Re: Upgrading multiple VAL's CM3.1

I tried scheduling 4-VAL's--separate schedules, and most aborted. There is some medpro's FW updates coming up...lesson learned. Thanks kapaul!

Re: Upgrading multiple VAL's CM3.1

If you have 10 VALs with 255 ann per board your company may be a bit long winded..... Be sure to clean up old .wav files occasionally. They have to be removed from the boards not just deleted out of the switch. VAL manager does a good job in v3.1.

Re: Upgrading multiple VAL's CM3.1

You can upgrade VALs ate the same time in CM 1.3 . But not all from the same update firm command. What I do is I go through and enable filex on them all, then go through and FTP the file to the cards individually, then use the update firm 1 for the first, update firm 2 for the second...

Now, Medpros you can use a single update firm command to update all of them. CLANs are the other board you have to download from self.

So, CLAN and VAL have to be loaded from self, all others can be done at the same time in a single upgrade firm command. Now typically you would want to campon busy a few out first, then upgrade some, then the others for no downtime, but that's up to you.
