coverage answer group question
I have an external number that I had fwd to a DID. I only want this DID to transfer to another extension and then have as if it IS that extension - so the DID I want to be transparent - any way to accomplish this?
Its much more detailed than that, but if I explain it all it might be more difficult - but in summary the "real" number needs to ring to a coverage answer group - then go to voicemail if they dont answer. The problem is when it tries to go to voicemail its going their with the original DID - I want that original did to be transparent so it really acts as the number that DID is fwd to - i had that original DID with cov path that had path 1 go straight to the "real" extension - but then I would just get a busy signal.. Any ideas would be great Thanks Ross |

Re: coverage answer group question
Let me see if I understand your question. You have a number outside of your PBX that is being forwarded or transferred in some fashion to a DID that does ring in your PBX. Once it rings into your PBX you are redirecting it again to a third number that is covered by a Cover Answer Group. If this group fails to answer, you want the call to go to the voice mail of the third number in this chain.
If this is correct and the trunk group is an ISDN trunk group it can be easily done on the third page of the trunk group form titled "Incoming Call Handling Treatment". The Service/Feature would be "public-network", called length "4", called number is the last four digits of the DID, del 4, insert the four digit station number you want to use. The above answer assumes you are getting four digits from the vendor. If you are getting more or less, you will need to make some adjustments to the digit manipulation.

Re: coverage answer group question
Good answer, Marty! next question (if you don't have ISDN-PRI) would be "do you have vectoring?

In a CBC envirnoment (God, how I hate CBC) this could be one of many things. Most commonly, however, it will match the service type that you entered on page 1 of the trunk group form. I know, I know ... most people use "public-network" but I tend to use "tie" myself. regs, .al.

Re: coverage answer group question
I had that thought as well - to do it at the trunk level - just thought it might be "cleaner" do do it another way, doesnt sound like thats possible.
I use public-network - because we do use "tie" for real tie trunks - p2p T1s between an 8500 and 8700... I guess you could probably use either though. Can you still have a DID if its not on a PRI - ISDN line? Their is probably a technically correct term - and the "term used" answer! |
