Re: Cant fax to pc/based faxes?

Since this is a media gateway, did you set up the sync timing source for the mm board? If not you might start there.

You are not timing on the T1. The motherboard (V0) shows as the active timing source. I've never seen "locked out" before so I can't say why V2 isn't working. Review the timing procedures here: "timing off" on trunk?

Re: Cant fax to pc/based faxes?

Welcome to the wonderful world of analogue data... I once had a customer that used to be able to make dialup connections to their ISP at 48K using analogue lines out of their PBX. When their service from telco was cut over to a shiny new digital switch, all of the sudden the best they could get was 32K.

Unfortunate but true - dialup data transmission rate above 9.6K are not guaranteed by telco because the PSTN was designed to handle human voice, which caps out at about 4KHz.

I wouldn't blame the PRI.... but it may be worth looking into its programming. There are two service classifications for analogue within the ISDN world: 56KHz and 3.1 KHZ voice grade. The 56KHz is used to tell the SS7 network (the switching control system for the PSTN) to try to set up an all digital route end to end - I've not worked on an 8300 so maybe Marty (or anyone else monitoring this thread) has a suggestion on how to check what your system is sending?

Re: Cant fax to pc/based faxes?

) Define which interfaces are primary and secondary:
a) set sync interface primary <mmid> (i.e. set sync int pri v2)
b) set sync interface secondary <mmid> (i.e. set sync int sec v3)
2) Specify the source to use: set sync source <primary | secondary> (i.e. set sync source primary)
.

3) Display the current selections and their status: show sync timing

I need to specify the MMID (v2) and the port(s) what do I set here?

The numbers will be all zeroes 24 hours after setting it. Look at the DS1 log rather than the summary, that will show all the above data in 15 minute segments. If you are running clean now you will have all zeroes from the time it was set.

Re: Cant fax to pc/based faxes?

ES = Errored second. The number of seconds that had one or more data transmission errors in it.

BES = Bursty errored seconds. The number of seconds that had a higher than average error rate. This is a subtotal of the ES total. This could generate a minor alarm.

SES = Severely errored seconds. A subtotal of the BES amount. This will probably result in a major alarm.

UAS/FS = Unavailable/Failed seconds. This happens if you have ten or more SES entries, this will be a major alarm.

CSS = Controlled slip seconds. The number of seconds that there have been T1 slips.

LOFC = Loss of frame count. This is a count of the number of loss-of-signal or loss-of-frame events that lasted more than 2.5 seconds.

This is what you should see all the way through this log, you have it once -

07/20 14:11 0 0 0 0 0 0

Nice descriptions Marty. (Better than mine - so I pulled my post out)

Will comment on the counters though - note that these are in reverse order, with the latest 15-minute period showing first... this indicates the clocking problem's probably now fixed. run it again in another 15 minutes to verify.

Re: Cant fax to pc/based faxes?

looks like the top counter is always 0 - just leaves it blank for that 15min period... I think I need to get the primary set on the G350..
