VoIP between Definity and IP office

I have 3 definity's and 8 IP office systems I have been successful setting up IP trunking between all of these systems. Now I am stuck trying to see if I can set up a Unifided dial plan between all of them. I have 4 digit extensions and some of the extension ranges overlap. Currently I accomplish inter office dialing by TACing the trunk and then dialing the remote extension. Is there a better way that I can do this? Currently I make it look like a UDP by making all of the TAC codes the same in every office as far as the user is concerned no matter what office you are in you dial the same TAC and extension to reach any office.

Yes there is, but it will not be without some pain.

Step 1: Define UNIQUE extension numbers for each location. This is the painful part since some extension numbers are going to have to change since they overlap.

Step 2: Define your UDP, AAR Analysis, and route patterns.

Step 3: Users dial 4-digits ONLY ... no TAC is required. All routing is handled by the UDP/AAR tables.

You will also need to make sure that UDP and AAR is active in your customer options. If not, you can pay Avaya to turn them on.

Is there a way to do this in reverse on the IP Office side?

Yeah ... you simply use shortcodes. Let's say, for instance, that you're using a hub and spoke topology with all of the IP Offices tied back to the Communications Manager, your IP Trunks have outgoing/incoming line group 5, and all of the extension numbers are 4000-5999. You create two shortcodes like this:

Shortcode: 4xxx
Telephone Number: N
Line Group ID: 5
Feature: Dial

Shortcode: 5xxx
Telephone Number: N
Line Group ID: 5
Feature: Dial

Now, all of the IP Office users simply dial 4-digit extension numbers as well.

You -DO- have to take into account the local extension range. In that case let's say 4200-4299 are assigned locally. You then will need to create a shortcode 42xx with feature "Dial Extension" to insure local delivery.
