Re: aca cert
There are two parts to the ACA (and ACS) test. One is for general knowledge and one is product specific. They can be taken in any order and do not need to be taken at the same time.

Re: aca cert
I don't understand the question. There are no prereqs for taking the ACA certification tests, you can walk in off the street and take it with no preparation at all. The prereqs come into play if you are studying for it. Certain courses have to be taken in a given order.
A friend of mine who has a CCNA took the general test (which is primarily networking) and passed it on his first day with our company. The product specific part of the test he had to study for.

Re: aca cert
why are you thinking that way?
My opinion is that if you do the core exam first, it gives you a sort of fundament for the specific features avaya provides. On the other hand, if you think your base knowledge is enough to work with avaya equipement, why not take the core assessement right away? For those people who dont understand basics of networking is it very preferrable to study for aca core and pass the core exam before starting with product electives. We are training some colleges at my office and because they were realy tradition pbx oriented (Say no ip....) they had to do core exam first. Now that they have passed they all feel much more confident in starting with communication manager. |

Re: aca cert
There is only one product specific test for the ACA certificate that you want. On the Avaya University page you will see a bunch of prereq requirements for various courses, but you can actually skip all of them if you are comfortable in your knowledge and go take the test. The test is monitored and costs $175, or it did when I took it. It also must be taken at an official test site that you have to travel to. I took the test at a location two miles from the office.
If you want to find out how much studying you need, take the assessments for each course.
