Music on Hold not working

We are using an Avaya G3siV11 PBX system and our Music on Hold is not working. I've checked the connections from our CD player to the "Aux" port on the demarc and the everything appears to be connected. I've also made sure that the port is configured on the "system parameters-features" screen. Is there anywhere else I need to check in software to make this work? Please help...

Was this working before and just quit or are you installing it for the first time?

Re: Music on Hold not working

i've had moh go away for lots of stupid reasons. once, a shelf holding the source fell off of the wall and the equipment crashed to the floor. another time, the source output was via the headset jack and someone turned the volume on the player all the way down. you may even want to check to make certain the cd is actually playable - and still in the player. ;)

Re: Music on Hold not working

My moh is Comcast DMX. We are a conservative insurance company and it's tuned to Classical :yawn2
I got a call one day that the music was some New Age "crap"
Found out that Comcast had changed their channel lineup.

Re: Music on Hold not working

I was working, but I do not know how long ago. I tested all the connections and even put a speaker on the CD player to make sure that it was working. I'm thinking either there is something in software that needs to be activated or the "Aux Trunk" card is defective. What are you thoughts? Any ideas on what to check for? Thanks for the response.

Every once in awhile, I'll sneak Tool into our player... 10,000 Days is in there now. Our customers seem a little "out of sorts" when finally getting thru to our Care group. They are less demanding and pretty much will comply with anything we say. I heard a Care rep the other day say she was able to convince a customer to accept a $150 surcharge "just because"...

The only programming in the PBX is to assign MOH to an AUX port and cross connect from the CD player to the first pair of that port. I use the headphone jack of the player, verify that music is still coming out that jack by plugging a headphone into it. If it is, move the PBX assignment to another AUX port and see if that helps.

Re: Music on Hold not working

I have also come accross this issue in the past. One thing I found that works for me is to install one of the old System 25 MOH adapters (white box) inline before it goes into the system. This seems to hold open the MOH port.
