Call forwarding from off site
Is there a way to set up call forwarding from off site. I want a person to be able to dial in and tell there station to forward all calls to another location. The other location is on the switch as a different PN. So they would really be just forwarding to another extension. The problem is they don't know what the extension will be until they get there because it will just be any available cube.
We have an S8710 with CM 3.0 Last edited by grahekf; May 26th, 2006 at 12:55 PM. |

Re: Call forwarding from off site
Yes, you can do this. But be very careful because you are opening a door for toll fraud. First create a COR with an FRL of 0. Unless you have locked your system down, that FRL will permit station to station calls. If that FRL won't work, make the FRL 1, but don't go any higher.
Now do a "ch remote" and enter a DID, give it an authorization code of at least six digits for security, give it the COR you created and the COS with console permissions (usually 0). Enter a number for how many times this can be accessed. The caller will dial that DID, once they hit the switch they will hear a tone. Dial the passcode and then they will hear dial tone. Dial the call forward FAC and they will hear dial tone again. Dial the number they want to call forward, hear dial tone, then dial the number they want to call forward to. If the number is already call forwarded to a number, they must cancel that first. I must warn again that this does open a door to fraud. Even though this caller cannot dial out directly because of the COR, they could social engineer someone else to call out for them.

Re: Call forwarding from off site
I would use the Telecommuting feature. cha tele to create (or see) the DID assigned for this. Assign a Security Code to the person's extension. Check their station COS to see that they have Restrict Call Forwarding Offnet = n. The user calls the Telecommuting Access number, enters the FAC for Extended Call Fwd Activate, then the extension number and #, then the security code and #, then the number to forward to (entered exactlty how you would need to dial it from inside the office including a 9). Should receive the 3-beep confirmation. Doesn't need console permissions. Use the same procedure to un-forward by entering the Deactivate FAC.
