adding a G650 via fiber to a center stage

I have a 5 cabinet CSS that I need to add a temp G650 to via SM fiber. I need some temp phones in an area for a month. Does anyone have a doc to show the best way to install this. I'm putting a SMI on the CSS and an EI on A01 on the G650. I know to reverse the SM T/R on one end. Add fiber translation and add cabinet translation. I was just looking for some refernce to make sure I don't miss and thing.

Re: adding a G650 via fiber to a center stage

Since you are using single mode fiber, do you have single mode transceivers? 9823's will not work on SM fiber. Single mode transceivers also require external attenuators.

Also, does the switch release support G650s?

You will need a 2182 tone clock in that carrier. One IPSI will support five port networks, are you ok in that area?

If everything else is ok, this is how I would add it

1.Ch circuit and add the TN573 in the SNI (do not seat the card yet).
2.Add cabinet and show it as a G650.
3.Ch cir x and make sure there is a TN570 in it.
4.Run all the fiber cross connects and plug everything in except the TN573.
5.Add fiber next.
6.Now seat the TN573.

Do it in this sequence and you will rarely see any alarms unless something is physically wrong.

Is it single mode fiber as you initially stated? If it is, do you have the correct transceivers with the attenuators? The attenuators are just colored glass inserts that go on the receive side of the fiber, at both ends.

What is the heartbeat on the TN573? Is it slow, rapid, or nonexistent?

Good, that means you are close. The slow heartbeat means the send and receive are correct. Did you get an assortment of attenuators, or just one for each end? Single mode fiber runs are optimized for a 0dB loss end to end. However the PBX wants the signal to be at -17dB.

If you already know the following, skip the lecture and go to the next paragraph. Attenuation is done by progressively darker glass in the attenuators and it needs to be the same attenuation at each end.

The most common reason for the problem you are having is too much or too little attenuation. There is a number on the outside of the attenuator, is it the same at both ends?

One last question, how is the heartbeat on the TN570 in the G650? The TN573 has a slow heartbeat so the receive fiber is good there, but if the receive fiber at the G650 is not happening; then either the fiber leg is bad or there is too much attenuation.

I have also seen this problem go away if the attenuation is put on the transmit side. You could give that a try if everything else seems ok.
