USB Modem on S8300
Hello All.
I have a problem connecting to S8300 via a USB Modem. I connected the modem, under the security options I enable the modem for unlimited incoming calls but still no success. I found somewhere in this forum that I need a RAS connection as well. Can someone help me creating this RAS connection? Or is there is something else I should do? Thanks |

Re: USB Modem on S8300
You need a customer/remote login on the S8300. This is the login you will use for the modem, it is not the S8300 login. Make sure that the S8300 login has the access through INADS line checked yes.
After you have connected to the modem, start your browser and enter the IP address of the S8300. From here you will login using the S8300 login. If you need more, let me know and I will provide detailed RAS and PPP procedures.

Re: USB Modem on S8300
Thanks Marty but still have the problem. I created the login account but the modem disconnects as soon as I dial in without asking me for a login/password. Keep in mind that there is no field "access though INADS" that I can check. (This field used to be in the system-parameters maintenance"). Can you give me a hint? I am sure I am very close to the solution :(

Re: USB Modem on S8300
Al, I was not able to open the PDF you referenced, perhaps it is a restriction here at work.
I suspect it is a simple problem. When the connect window opens on your computer, click on properties and then go to the security tab. Click on "Show terminal window" then click on Ok. Back at the connect window, clear the User Name field and do not click on the save button (that will insert data that will cause your connection to fail). This time when you dial a black window will open and this is where you enter the remote login and password.
