Audix V4 and S8700's for Switch Link Administration
Hello all,
Here is my latest dilemma that hopefully this forum can provide some guidance with. We are looking to upgrade our G3R to Duplex S8700's this summer. Currently our Audix is V4.4 with an X.25 Switch Link. We have been informed that X.25 is not supported under CM and the S8700's, in addition Intuity Audix V4 does not support TCP/IP Switch Links. Basically I'm just wondering if there is some sort of work around to this issue. Thanks in advance.

X.25 is definitely not supported by the S8700 but I do believe that the 4.4 Intuity does support an IP switch link. You just have to buy it. It comes on it's own tape and you might have to get an Ethernet card to put in the Intuity plus activate the TCP/IP features.
If I am wrong (and that is always possible), then the only thing you can do is upgrade the Intuity to 5.1.

Thanks Marty,
The box already has a NIC and we are using it for Voice Mail administration, so hopefully if I can get the tape we'll be able to keep the existing system.

Re: Audix V4 and S8700's for Switch Link Administration
From a partner I have found out there is an upgrade. They call it a SWIN upgrade/ "Switch Integration" Patch for the software.
Another funny note would be that I called Avaya support direct and was told that I needed to upgrade to V5.

Re: Audix V4 and S8700's for Switch Link Administration
That is the same thing I mentioned, it is just a tape with the IP integration software on it. You should get documentation with it on how to do the changes.
The basic steps are to remove your existing DCIU integration software first, shut the machine off and remove the DCIU interface card. Turn the machine back on and load the new software on it then do the IP integration programming in both machines. Since it is already on your LAN (and I assume the new S8700 will be on the same LAN), you will not use the 6" long rollover cable you will get. The 4.4 is easier to upgrade than the 5.1 because the 5.1 comes with everything on CD and to do this change to a 5.1 you have to call Avaya. They have to dial in and change it themselves. The 4.4 (since everything comes on its' own tape and you don't get the tape unless you buy it) you can do by yourself.

Re: Audix V4 and S8700's for Switch Link Administration
Thanks Marty,
That's really similar to what I have learned to date. Apparently you need to find the tape, which is out of publication. One vendor mentioned that he had obtained it from a customer and made copies in order to be able to do these types of upgrades. Thanks for all your replies. We will begin looking at this upgrade in the next 4 months so that we are prepared for the S8700 Upgrade.
