Angry Interface G3V6R with Meridian Opt 11C

Installed Nortel Opt 11C at new site trying to interface 5 digit dialing into my Definity network.
Note: I do not have Q-sig available for the Definity products. I am not able to signal down
a T-1 pipe set up as ISDN-Pri with D channel service. I have set up equp as follows:
-ISDN trunk with Tie servicing
-Ds1 pack using ISDN-Pri
-Sig mode ISDN-Pri with TN464F integrated 120A3 CSU
-Sig group with associated signaling.
I have change translations through-out trunk and signalling - - trunk group always comes up
( out of service -NE ) ( Definity end ) - - Any Pubs/Manuals/Articles or Suggestions.

Re: Interface G3V6R with Meridian Opt 11C

I know absolutely nothing about Nortel but at the Definity the trunk group will never come up until the signal group does. The signal group is looking for a D channel response from the other end. When you status signal group x, what do you get?

You do not indicate whether the two switches are directly connected or go through a CO but I read your message to imply the Nortel is not able to provide the D channel response. A T1 is just a pipe and you can configure it any way you want it but it must be configured the same at both ends. If the Meridian cannot do ISDN-PRI then you cannot use that at the Definity.

Try configuring the DS1 as a standard T1 using robbed-bit or common channel.

One other question. Is UDP turned up in the Definity? You will need that and AAR to be able to route calls to the Meridian. DCS won't work because that is intended to be used between Avaya switches only.

Marty
Thank you for the information. The Sig group (Group State - out of service )
UDP and AAR are in place. We are signalling to a Central location from a remote switch.
The remote is a new location and a replacement. The Central location has been up and
running for over 10 years. The Pathway to the Opt 11 is a new T-1 and yes it runs
thru Verizon CO point to point . I will also try your other suggestion.
