Re: coverage answer group

Just to clarify so I understand the question you are asking, you put both extensions in cover answer group 1 (for example) and then put that answer group in a third stations cover path as c1. And when you call the third station which covers to this answer group, both stations do not ring simultaneously?

Re: coverage answer group

If you are calling one of the two members of the cover answer group directly instead of covering to them from a third phone, it sounds like you want a call pickup group instead.

No problem. Let us say there are three extensions, 1234, 2345, and 3456. You want calls to 1234 to cover answer to 2345 and 3456.

You put 2345 and 3456 in cover answer group 1, then you will create a new coverage path (we'll call it 10). Define the yes/no parameters in the middle of the screen and the number of rings you want to have before transfering. At the bottom, put the destination of c1.

Change station 1234 and add coverage path 10 to that station. Any calls to station 1234, that go to coverage, will now ring on 2345 and 3456 at the same time.

Note that if you call 2345 or 3456 directly coverage answer does not come into play because the call was not to 1234 first. Note also that you do not assign that coverage path to the members of the cover answer group.

What do you get when you trace the call coming into station 1234? And just for the sake of testing, what happens when you remove the cover remote from the two members of the cover answer group?

It is a cover remote and not call forwarding, correct?

Re: coverage answer group

At work I set up a cover answer group using my phone and two other phones in the switch room. Set both the other phones up with a cover remote to my cell phone. I then put a trace on my phone and called it.

The trace showed that it went to the coverage path point 1 and indeed both the other phones did ring. Your reply indicates it went to the station in the cover answer group and not to the cover answer group itself. I would double check the programming or better yet remove it and do it again. My test took me about a minute to set up.

Re: coverage answer group

When you do a trace does it say you are going to the coverage path choice 1? And is that choice the cover answer group? Do you have any other cover answer groups that work correctly?

If you answer yes to all the above questions then there is something about the programming of this group that is amiss. As I indicated it took me a minute to program this and it worked the first time.

If you do not see anything when you go through the programming, I would suggest trying this. Just to make sure this will actually work for you add three brand new phones (make them simple digital phones) and set this up using them (do everything new and do not reuse any of the existing programming).

If this works then there is something wrong with the existing setup. Remove all three of the existing phones, the coverage paths, and the cover answer group, everything. Put them back in.

If this, however, does not work (and you answered the third question with "you do not have any other answer groups") it is possible you have some software corruption. Only Avaya can fix that.

Please respond to this email in detail. Answer the questions and tell me exactly what happened when you tried the new answer group. Use a trace.

Re: coverage answer group

I have had experiences with Cover Remote that cuases issues.

When it is cover remoted I don't think that it can ring at both extensions.

I am not stating facts, just what I have experienced.

Re: coverage answer group

Make sure there is not a treatment for the number hard coded in the local trunk group. That will override the answer-group you have set up.
