Has anyone out there developed a good comfort level when using Modular Messaging version 2 Caller Applications?

I am attempting to implement my first caller application, a simple, single layer menu that allows callers to select an option and be routed to a voicemail box and I am having no success at all. I have RTFM – “MAS Administration Guide, Issue 1”, Section 11.

I have created the necessary mailboxes, edited and deployed the caller application using an Announcement Prompt of <default> and created an association with the same Association ID, Extension and Mailbox as the extension people will use to call the application.

When you call the extension, the menu works but the announcement does not play.

I’ve tried using different Association IDs and mailboxes. I’ve tried setting the announcement prompt to the caller application extension and eliminating the association. The manual says that you can forego the Association ID if you put in a called extension. I’ve tried this but the system won’t let me do it.

The one thing that did work was to use an Application Prompt instead of an Announcement Prompt. Unfortunately the Application Prompt has to be recorded from the MAS and I need to give users the ability to change this periodically. I really need to make it work using Announcement prompt.

Does anybody know how to make this work?

The really annoying thing is that I could do this in ten minutes under Audix or using vectors and system announcements.
