VAL Manager

We have the VAL Manager as part of the Avaya Visability Management Suite.
We also have an S8710 processor.
When I try to connect to the VAL board using the IP of the 8710 server, the VAL manager times out.
I'm using the IP address of the 8710 server. Should I be using another one?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ted

Absolutely. The VAL board itself should have a connection to your corporate LAN and it's own IP adress. To see what that IP address is, you'll need to look at the IP Interface. Depending on what release you are running the command will be "display ip-interface" or "display ip-interface ppcss" where ppcss is the card location (pp=port network, c=carrier, and ss=slot). If you have not set up the VAL board with it's own address or connected it to your LAN then you will need to do that.

Re: VAL Manager

You might also want to look at node-names IP. The IP-I screen will give the subnet mask and the gateway IP and also tells you the slot the VAL is in.

Re: VAL Manager

When I set up my Val Manager I entered a C-Lan IP address and port 5111. You will also need your login and password to the switch. Once you register a new voice system under the System choice and you enter the IP address of the C-lan and port, etc. you can right click on the voice system and get val board information. It should find the Val board and IP address by itself.
