How to extract events from Avaya ????
Hi ,
This is my first post in this forrum. And I really require your help on this!!!! We are trying to build a tool that will detect if any extension or vdn has been deleted in the switch (Avaya) .so that we match it up in the Genesys database. My question is how can this be done ? How can we extract a particular event i.e deletion of an extension and build a program around it ????? If you could suggest some docs it wld be really helpful. Thanks Ranjit Genesys Tech |

Re: How to extract events from Avaya ????
Hi Al Hays,
Thanks for your reply .I think it would be really helpful if I could use the history log file and get the delete events(remove extension) . But I have got one more question here i.e how can we access this log file ? I beleive the ' list history ' command can be run only in the avaya emulator (ASA) . So will this require any particular APIs to fetch the delete events from this log file or we can directly access this log file through any computer . Thanks, Ranjit |

You are correct in that you will need to access the PBX via a terminal emulation/telnet session in order to get the "list history" log file. However, there are a couple of ways to do this: 1) You can load ASA on the PC that will be running the custom program that will be evaluating the file and schedule that copy of ASA to pull the report into a log file on a daily basis (or more frequently with whatever schedule you wish). You'll just need to point the program to the directory and filename that you establish in ASA. 2) You can have your custom program telnet to the PBX using W2KTT emulation and read the logfile in a live session. AT&T 4410 emulation is also a favorite and should be available in most programming comm libraries ... but W2KTT is built into Windows 2000 thru XP. I use this emulation quite frequently when I need to access a system quickly and/or when ASA is not available to me ... typically S8xx0 platforms through a server telnet session. regs, .al.
