Remote IP Phone Issue

S8100

Has anyone experienced this issue?:

I have 6 remote IP 4602 users. 3 of them are using Charter cable and 3 using Comcast cable for their provider. The 3 charter users are not having any issues. The 1 of the 3 Comcast users are still working correctly.

The 2 that are no longer working I have already had go back to Comcast and replace their cable modems. After this, the IP phones connect for a period of time. However, all of a sudden the IP phone will drop and go to "Discovering". Power cycling all the devices does not bring the phone back. I have also changed out all cables, power supplies and hardware (phone and Cisco PIX 501 router). The VPN is still connected and the users can still work on their PC's at home but the phone sits in "Discovering".
Softphone will also not connect once the IP phone drops so I cannot point at the 4602's.

However, if I have one of these users get a different cable modem from Comcast, it will work for a short period of time again. The phone will work for a week to up to 2 months then go back to the "Discovering" state.

I have the phones running DHCP. IP address is blank, CallSv has the CLAN IP address, CallSvPort=1719, Router is blank, Mask is blank, FileSv has the TFTP Server IP Address, 802.1Q=auto, and VLAN ID=0.

I have no issues with the Charter users (except for an occasional reboot). All of my problems are with Comcast users. Have any of you seen this?

Re: Remote IP Phone Issue

I have also added all the static entries in for the IP phones but have the same issue sitting at "discovering". The other thing that is odd is that I can ping the IP phone on the network and flash the firmware of the phone from the TFTP server.

As a recommendation, I also changed the 802.1Q setting to "off" on the IP phones. Regardless of the 802.1Q setting, DHCP or Static setup, the Charter users still work fine. My problem is still falling on Comcast users.

Is anyone else having issues with IP Phones with Comcast users?

If there is someone working fine with Comcast, does your phone settings look like mine above?

What codec are you using if it is working correctly?
