Post Anyone know of some type of cordless headset for console?

I am looking for a solution for our switchboard where the operator can leave the console to say go put the mail away and still answer the phone with some type of cordless phone. Any ideas, i have asked our vendor and he knows of nothing. Something where she could wander around and still answer and transfer calls.

With attendant vectoring I dont see why this would not work, but I have not tried it.

Possibly a check to see if there are no attendants available then route to a cordless phone

yes there are other means, you can route to transtalk by using attendant que giving the attd-q to the transtalk, but avaya sells the lka-10 wireless headsets with touch pad for dialing

Vectoring does make it much easier. However, another option could be to setup a cordless phone on the PBX at the reception desk. Then, create this coverage path and use 'attd' as the first coverage point, and then use the extension of the cordless phone as the second coverage point. Then, have your main number come in a hunt-group by setting up the Group Extension as your main number, put in whatever your night service destination is supposed to be in the Night Service Destination Field, and put in the number of the coverage path just created. Then, when the attendant steps away, put the console into the 'position busy' state and the call should rollover straight to the cordless phone.

I haven't exactly tested this entirely. We've done something similar to this previously on a G3si v8 for one of our medium sized offices that doesn't have vectoring (our setup is everything else except using the position busy to force the rollover).

I don't think the LKA-10 would be the answer. It is a good cordless headset for a normal user, but most operators have said it is too much a pain for parking and picking up calls.

Make contact with PLANTRONICS. They have a CS50 unit which can be used at the Main Receptionist.
