Re: Ip softphone Question
You fist need to make sure that port 1719 UDP and 1720 TCP are opened in your firewall to the address of every clan. Also, You need to make sure that you open the proper UDP ports to your medpro. To find out what you are using, cha IP-network-region X. On this screen you will see your UDP port range. These ports must all be opened to the IP address of all your medpros. Also on this screen you will see the codec set number. Then do a disp ip-codec X. You will now see what codec you are using. I use G.711 becuse it provides the best voice quality, but uses the most bandwidth. Aprox 80K per call. Now that you know what codec you are using we can configure you IP softphone. At the log in screen click settings. Then click advanced. On the bottom, check to use a specific range of ports. Enter the range of UDP ports that you are using on cha ip-network-region X. Now back to the login screen, the bandwidth setting must match the codec. LAN=g.711 and g.729=DSL/cable modem. I only use g.711 so I allways set this to lan, weither I am on the lan or connect via vpn.
