Question Job description

Hi guys,
This is probably an unusual request but I desperately need help.
I’m trying to create a job description for my duties (phone system administrator or whatever )that include everything related to the phone system. (This is complicated by the fact that my administration does not have maintenance contract with Avaya and trying to avoid bringing outside vendors in. So I have to be, or try to be, everything.)
My duties include but not limited to:
* hardware (new installs, upgrades, relocations, etc.)
* software (adding and removing users in Definity, Audix, IP office, making changes to existing users to accommodate their requests, monitoring alarms, truffic etc.)
* educating staff on using phones, voicemail and IP Office,
* troubleshooting and solving problems inside and work with the carrier technicians on outside problems,
* reviewing phone bills,
* maintaining documentation.
* selfeducation
And more… I just don’t know how to put it in right words so it sounds important.
Does anybody have access to their job description? Can you add/correct this?
Anything will help.
Thank you all.

Re: Job description

Most people's titles are Communications _________ . Fill in the blank: Specialist, Engineer, analyst, manager....

The direction the technology is going the title is turning into an IT job so it's even more bundled. This is why people have the titles of Network Admin, Director if IT and CIO Chief Informational Officer... So, it depends what level you are with the company, are you the only one handling the communications information for the entire company? How about CCO Chief Communications Officer? Something a little less intimidating? Go with the fill in the blank above.

Seeing that I also handle the daunting and many times trivial tasks of the IT world's underlings, I'm tempted to just change my title to Office B!&ch. When in reality the title I'm working toward is 'Network Engineer', almost there.

Re: Job description

Thanks GL,
I'm the only one in the company handling the communications, but telephone communications. It probably sounds weird for the rest of the world, but our phone system is separated from the IT department (historically).
Thanks again, I will use your info .
