Red face Dial Plan

Hi All,

This is my dial plan for G3r v11.

Dialed Total Call
String Length Type
3 4 ext
4 4 ext
5 4 ext
6 4 ext
7 4 ext
8 3 dac
9 1 fac
* 3 dac
# 2 dac

Now I am using 9 as ars,#6 as aar and 805 as TAC for one of my trunk group.

i wanna to use 6666 to access that trunk group by any way either by ars, aar, tac or by some other method, without changing my dial plan.currently i am using 6xxx as extensions .

Pls help.

regards
techie

Re: Dial Plan

what exactly is it that you're trying to accomplish? do you want to enter 6666 and draw dial tone? do you want it to dial somewhere specific? to draw dial tone, 6666 needs to be the TAC. to use it, you'll have to remove all objects that begin with a 6 and reprogram the sixes in the dial plan. i believe, though, that avaya does NOT recommend starting extensions and TACs with the same digit. if you just want to dial somewhere specific, use remote coverage or UDP.

p.s. - you should scold whoever programmed that dial plan to begin with. BIG no-no.

Re: Dial Plan

dj00crazy - you can't do that with UDP - if you want dial tone by dialing 6666, it has to be the TAC. and even then, be careful. you can't TAC an ISDN trunk. only CO or TIE.

liquid - starting with release 10, the dial plan became an analysis table. this allows us to "break down" the dialed strings much better than the old dial plan table. for instance, if dj's dial plan was properly administered, it might look like this (assuming his extensions are 60XX through 64XX):

60 4 ext
61 4 ext
62 4 ext
63 4 ext
64 4 ext

now, he can come back when the need arises to do this (hypothetically):

65 3 fac
66 4 dac
67 5 ext
68 2 dac
...etc...

as he stands now, he has a need, and the lazy SS that programmed that dial plan has locked him out. to undo it, he's now got to rip out however many extensions to accomodate his need.

lazy software makes for big problems down the line is all i'm saying.

Re: Dial Plan

Couldn't agree more Eltoro...

Had to revamp a PBX in London that limited me in the same fashion.

There is not much flexibility in his settings.

Re: Dial Plan

You could use vectoring...

VDN = 6666

vector says:
route-to number <tac> with ....
