Help with CMS reports?

I've run these before, and i am pretty comfortable with the basics. However, I am being asked by management to produce a CMS report, on a VDN, in intervals-but they want the report in a monthly format, ie, all month, from 11:00 to 11:30, VDN xxx took 5000 calls, 1130 to 12 it took 3499, etc.

I know that CMS has a daily interval report, but to date I haven't been able to find or build a monthly cumulative interval report. Does one exist/can it be built? Or is it a matter of an add-on product or manually compiling each day of data. I don't mind doing it, just that management wants to keep it as simple as possible

thanks

This can be done, but required that a custom report be built. Unfortunately, this is not something that I (or anyone) can instruct you on how to do in this forum. Avaya can build it, others who have been trained can build it (myself, for instance) and it is not a cheap or simple proposition ... only because it's so time consuming.

Last I heard Avaya was getting $2000 per custom CMS report. Others (including myself) can generally do it for 1/4 that rate.

Re: Help with CMS reports?

my next question would be, would the CMS custom reports class that Avaya offers, show me how to pull this off, or would any really worthwhile and in-depth custom report writing instruction only come from Avaya certification-level training?

thanks

Yes. Take one of the following courses from Avaya University:

AVA00401H00 - Customizing CMS Reports Workshop (12 Hours)
Currently scheduled in Highlands Ranch, Colorado on August 11 & 12

5 of 8 seats remaining as of this date. Cost (exclusive of travel): $949.20

This course is designed for Avaya Employees, Business Partners, and Customers with Call Management System (CMS) responsibilities.

Important note: Users of the CMS Supervisor client, which is the windows based interface, should take this course, AVA00401H00. Users of an emulation tool or the CMS ASCI interface should take CMS Custom Reports, BTC115H.

This course provides the skills and knowledge to customize reports in the Avaya Call Management system environment using the CMS Supervisor client.

Information is provided about the concepts and guidelines that affect the customization of reports. Students will work with the Design Creation and Editing report tools, and have the opportunity to practice creating and editing their own custom reports in a lab environment.

Upon completion of this course you should be able to
- Customize reports according to call center needs
- Use the Report Wizard to create new CMS Reports
- Use the Report Designer to create new or modify existing CMS Reports
- Use the Report Manager to manage all standard and customized CMS Reports
- Combine charts, grids, textual elements, and simple graphics into reports

BTC115H - CentreVu* CMS Custom Reports (24 Hours)
Currently Scheduled in Altamonte Springs, FL from 9/27 thru 9/29

5 of 8 seats remaining as of this date. Cost (exclusive of travel): $1,898.40

This course is intended for Avaya customer personnel who perform administration on Avaya Call Management System (CMS).

Important note: Users of the CMS Supervisor client, which is the windows based interface, should take Customizing CMS Reports Workshop, AVA00401H00. Users of an emulation tool or the CMS ASCI interface should take this course, BTC115H.

This course provides training on the tasks required to develop Call Management System (CMS) custom reports and graphs using an emulation tool or the CMS ASCII interface.

Upon successful completion of this course the learner will be able to:
- Determine custom report needs and design a report.
- Use the Real-time and Historical databases to determine field definitions.
- Use standard calculations to define fields.
- Copy and edit an existing report to create a custom report.
- Create a custom report from scratch which you can use at your company.
- Use the Custom Reports references.
- Use the Dictionary features as needed for custom reports.
- Create and use a custom calculation.
- Determine custom graph needs and design a graph.
- Copy and edit an existing graph to create a custom graph.

Personally, I prefer the latter of the two. Custom reports built with the terminal emulator can also be used by CentreVu Supervisor ... but you get some additional SQL training that will help you understand the way the CMS works and stores it's data.
