Question TN722B and ISDN PRI

Definity G3siV12.
We are planning to switch from Supertrunk to ISDN PRI to have our calls identified. I have a few TN722B DS1 tie cards and CSUs we used for T-1s. Vendor says that I can use them to install PRI, but some say that I need to buy TN2464 or similar. Could someone clarify this for me? Can one card handle 48 channels? Or is it CSU that defines it?
Thank you
GRig

Resource: ftp://ftp.avaya.com/incoming/Up1cku9...revintages.pdf

1) The TN722B cannot be used for ISDN-PRI. See minimum hardware vintage resource above.

2) The TN2464 can only be used in a BCS (offer "B"). If "disp sys offer" says offer category "A" then you cannot use the TN2464 and would need either a TN464F V5, TN2313AP H0 F26, or a TN767E V3 (or greater vintages). Signalling channels on a TN767 and TN2313 are not supported on the S8xx0 platforms (but that shouldn't be a problem since you've indicated an si platform) and TN767s are not supported in the G650. You should be able to reuse your CSUs but they may need to be reprovisioned to b8zs/esf.

3) One circuit pack and CSU per each T1 (23B+1D)

regs,

.al.

PS: If you find that you have an offer "B" PBX, I have a couple of TN2464F's collecting dust on a shelf I can let go pretty cheap.

Question Re: TN767 and ISDN PRI

Thank you. Unfortunately, we have offer A.
Which leaves me with the choice of three CPs with the price ranging anywhere from $495 for TN767E to $1695 for TN2313AP. Why is such a difference, besides 24/32 channels offered in TN464 and TN 2313? If I go with TN767E will I miss out on important features? Such as Caller ID (in and out).

The TN2313 is newer and the suffix "P" indicates that it is firmware upgradable. The TN464 will do both T1 and E1 (hence 32 channel support). Both are newer technology and I'd recommend going with the TN2313AP or a TN464GP ... and if I had to choose between them I'd recommend the TN464. However, the TN2313 should work fine.

The TN767 will probably fit the bill until you get ready to upgrade at which point you'll probably have to replace it. For basic ISDN-PRI with caller-id you should be fine on an si platform (based on the minimum vintage doc). I've not installed an si in quite some time but I have seen an R12 S8500 system that REPLACED an si reject a TN767 when attempting to configure it as an ISDN-PRI.

Also, shop around ... always take your supplier to task. Call Doug Nail at River Telecom (http://www.rivertelco.com). Wholesale refirb stuff ... good guy. He's likely selling to your current supplier.

regs,
