We have had a fire alarm installed, it is using 2 phone lines outside of my definity G3si. I have had a request to interface this fire alarm with my definity to call the emergency group page I have set up upon which a message will go out to the stations in that list.

The alarm vendor said that they can provide me a closure on a circuit and was wondering if there is away to have my emergency group page dialed upon that closure. Now, that is only one of the options, but it is where the alarm company wanted to start since it would be the easiest and least expensive.

Does anyone here have any experience interfacing an alarm system with a G3si? Will I need an announcement board? How did you do it?

After speaking with a technician here is an idea on how to do something that might work...maybe others with more experience then I can elaborate on this or improve on it.


Create an extension to an analog port in my switch with a personal abbreviated dialing list. On the hot line destination section of the station properties, that list number has a dial code of 1

In the abbreviated-dialing personal list for that station we set up a dial code of 9999

We added a dial string in the ars analysis table of 999 with the call type being alrt

we add a button assignment crss-alert on each phone that needs to hear the alarm tone.

now when the fire alarm generates a closure on that pair that terminates on the specified analog port, the crisis alert is generated on each of the phones. I've tested it up to the point of where I dial 9999 (I haven't terminated the actual line yet) and it works...except I'm not sure how to clear the display and light on the alerted phone.
