Softphone Woes

Here is the deal... We have a user that is having some issues using IP Softphone. While at home, the user connects through a Cisco VPN client via a PIX 506. He gets in the network just fine and gets the PIX IP address. When he logs into IP Softphone in Telecommuter mode, it disconnects his office phone like it should, but he never actually seems to be logged into the IP Softphone. Has anyone encountered this or had similiar problems? The user has tried both IP Softphone 3 and 4 as our Definity will support both of those. If it helps, the user can ping our call server whiel connected with the VPN client.

Thanks
Chris

Re: Softphone Woes

This sounds like a firewall issue. I had simmilar problems during my first attepts. I would start by using softphone on your LAN. That should work 100% before you attempt to use it via VPN. If you are using telecommuter only, you need to make sure that you open ports 1719 UDP and 1720 TCP to the IP address of your clan card. This is probably where the problem is. Check your firewall.
