Question Medpro board to IP phone calculator

I have a question concerning how many ip hard phones (compressed) can you have on one medpro board? Is there a erlang calculator that would tell me that?
Thanx
Joe

Re: Medpro board to IP phone calculator

depends on which version you are on.. 3.0 will be a RTU purchaseable per MEDPRO license.. is 3.0 out? unsure.

Otherwise, while I don't know the calculation, it's on Avaya's website.. something like 300 phones.. don't quote me, though. and it depends on "simultaneous" as well.. someone around here knows the answer. if I find it, I will post it.

Re: Medpro board to IP phone calculator

I thought a medpro can support 64 uncompressed calls and 32 compressed calls. Depends on the codec you are using. These are simultaneous calls.

yep.. that's it.. Avaya recommends 300 phones for every 64 channels.. that's how their salespeople quote it, anyway.

Re: Medpro board to IP phone calculator

Also, do not go past 400 IP phones connected to 1 clan. That will cause problems.

CM 3.0 is scheduled for GA on June 13, 2005 with an early controlled release beginning on May 16th. The MedPro licensing that you refer to is only applicable to the new TN2602AP Media Processor.

The TN2602 provides high capacity Voice over IP audio access to the switch for local stations and outside trunks. It is functionally equivalent to the existing TN2302, which continues to be offered, but has five to nine times the number of VoIP channels.

Unlike the TN2302, the TN2602 has two capacity options, both of which are determined by a license file installed on Communication Manager.
  • 320 voice channels
  • 80 voice channels
Every TN2602 must have a license associated with it, i.e., one board, one license.

regs,

Re: Medpro board to IP phone calculator

cool. Now will you be able to use the new TN2602 on pre CM3.0 switches. Or will CM3.0 and up only support the TN2602.
