Unhappy 4 digit dialing

Howdy - I have a remote location (also outside of my area code) that we currently dial the entire number to call. How can I set it up to dial only the last four digits? Their extension range is different then my own. Thanks.

Are they connected via T1 or Tie Lines? To add the other switch to your dialplan, you'll need to have the switches networked together with PRI or DCS.

It's built in the dialplan and aar analysis for V11. A little more complicated in V10. What version do you have.

YIKES....If you're saying what I think you're saying (adding each extension to the ARS table) that's going to be a mess, and one which will require a TON of upkeep....

That said, it can work....provided the extensions in the other office are DID.

V10 I don't have the instructions for. The Avaya help line had to build that one for me, took about 20 mins. Basically you tell the switch in the dialplan that the beginning number of your 4 digit # is an extension. Build a route pattern that matches the first two digits of the 4 digit # and tell the switch to look at aar analysis. You ch aar analysis, that will insert the area code and prefix anytime the switch sees those first two numbers. V11 they have simplified this and it's very easy but V10 was difficult. But it can be done without dcs and t1 or tie lines and use it to CT, CO and Northern CA.

Yeah, it's possible to add entries to your ARS table (or AAR if you're so inclined) to dial 4 digit extensions in your remote office, but the extensions in the remote office would need to be DID...

Are your switches networked together? - No. I would like to put a mask on any 4 digits that start with 4 or 6. So that when a caller that dialed 4111, the system would call 9, 1-xxx-xxx-4111

You only add the first number. I call 203-407-5900 so in the switch I say in the dialplan analysis that 5 is an ext.
Ch uniform dial plan put in 59, length is 4, del is 0, insert digits 407, net is aar, conv is y. Ch aar digit conv table: insert 407xxxx,
min 7, max 7, del 0, replacement string 1203, net ars, conv N, req N. This is version 11

Go to UDP and put in what number you want to dial (Ex:22)
assign a 3 digit AAR number and point that number to a route pattern (Ex: 101) Create route pattern 101
Under Grp No put in trunk
Under NPA put in your Area Code
PFX Mrk if you want the 1 put it in or if you want it stripped leave blank
NO Del Digts put in 3
Inserted digits put in 7 digits you need (Ex; 1555352)
I hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else.

You could really cheat and make them all VDN's / Vec's. How many are there?
