ISDN Squeal

I'm converting a T1 to a PRI. I have an Avaya G3R, they have a DMS100. We are having trouble getting it to come up. At first it was probably a protocol issue (and may still be). At this point, the channels come up, and I can dial out, but when the other end answers I hear a loud, high pitch squeal. The other end may or may not hear it, depending on the phone I dial out from. Any ideas?

Never mind ... figured it out. Had inadvertently switched the Service Type from publick-ntwrk to dmi-mos ... bad idea. Switched it back, now all is well with the world (and my PRI).

Where did you make this change? I'm trying to understand how it fixed your issue. We have some PRIs to a DMS100 type switch that are having call quality issues. After a period of time, the call will degrade where the far end hears bursts of static while our PBX callers hear dead-air. Any help or more info would be beneficial - thanks!

Sorry for the delay in response (I took a mini-vacation). The change I made was the Service Type on the first page of the trunk-group configuration. Among the possible choices are public-ntwrk, operator, dmi-mos, access, accunet, ...).

The other piece was figuring out which ds1 protocol worked with the service provider's set-up. The Protocal Type (a,b,c, or d) is under the ds1 configuration.
