ip 4690 polycom one way traffic

Hi everybody, :shame:

We have a problem recently. Our ip 4690 polycom can only established one way traffic to philippines. For example when we call them, they cannot hear our voices and vice versa. if we use other ip models we are able to establish calls both direction without any problem of cannot hear any voices.

Can anyone help to enlighten me what will it be the problem

a) have ping and traceroute, have connectivity and no sign of packet loss
b)use ip-codec G729, the ip polycom to do local calls, no problem
c)done a lis trace st, have the same findings compare to other model phones towards philppines
d) is downloading the firmware to ip polycom the same as the other models like ip 4620? We intend to download to a def1.82bin.

It cannot be firewall issue because other ip model phones did not have this issue

Real hope someone out there can assist me what is the next step.

Re: ip 4690 polycom one way traffic

Hi There,

The firmware you are trying to download doesn´t apply for the type model you have. As you can see from the paste of the readmexxx.txt

" Copyright Avaya 2004
All rights reserved
This file is the readme for software Release 1.8.2 for
the Avaya 4601 IP Telephone.
There are three files that apply to the Avaya 4601 IP Telephone:
4601ape1_8_2.bin - The 4601 R1.8.2 DEFINITY application.
4601bte1_8_2.bin - The 4601 boot application.
46xxupgrade.scr - The script the IP Telephones will download.
(Note: This file also applies to the Avaya 4602, 4602SW, 4610SW, 4620,
4620SW, 4624, 4612 and 4606 IP Telephones.) "

You can get the firmware for your 4690 by downloading the firmware version 1.7.5 as the txt file proves it.

"Copyright Avaya 2004
All rights reserved
This file is the readme for software Release 1.7.5 for
the Avaya 4690 IP Conference Telephone. This release letter describes
the generally available release.
There are two files that apply to the Avaya 4690 IP Telephone:
4690_010705.bin - The 4690SW R1.7.5 application. Please note that the boot
application is included in this single binary file.
46xxupgrade.scr - The script the IP Telephones will download.

FEATURES in R1.7.5:
This is the generally available release for the 4690 IP telephone. All features
are described in the 4690 IP Conference Phone User Guide.

KNOWN ISSUES IN R1.7.5:
· If the MCIPADD is set to 0.0.0.0, the phone does not reboot automatically. In
this case, the phone will display a discovering message and the phone can be
rebooted by pressing the '#' key.
· MCIPADD and TFTPSRVR addresses can only be set by IP address. DNS names are
currently not accepted
· Dial tone can appear to be choppy when playing at times.
· After a system upgrade or outage, the 4690 may display the "Discovering.." message.
The phone requires manual intervention in the form of a reboot when this occurs.
· After a system upgrade or outage, the 4690 may display the "Extension/Password"
prompt. The phone requires manual intervention in the form of re-entering the
extension and password for that extension.

· The 4690 IP currently does not support DHCP option 66 to supply the TFTP server
address.
· Silence suppression is not enabled for this release when using the G.729 codec.
· MUTE LOGOFF command does not clear previous extension from logon prompt.

R1.7.5 NOTE:
· Phone restarts if the extension is changed. This is normal behaviour for the 4690 IP.

UPGRADING a 4690 IP Telephone from a previous release:
· The upgrade script will upgrade your 4690 IP Telephone
to the R1.7.5 application load.
. The 4690 IP Telephone needs to be upgraded to R1.7.5 prior
to upgrading your switch to CM 2.1 or later. The telpehone will not
function properly on switches upgraded to CM 2.1 or later unless it is
first upgraded to R1.7.5. "

Hope it helps
Cheers
