Fax Messaging on Intuity R5.1

When using fax messaging with one extension, is there a way to set up fax detection on Intuity R5.1?

Re: Fax Messaging on Intuity R5.1

The faxing features are configured globally and then enabled on extensions either individually or via the class of service. When a subscriber is enabled for fax messaging, the fax tones will be automatically detected by the Intuity. What specific issues are you having, or maybe worded better, specifically what is the application/scenario?

Fax Messaging is set up to the point where we can fax to another subscriber within Intuity and also out side to an actual fax machine. The issue is incoming faxes to the extensions. Don't want the users to be picking up their phones and hearing fax tones and having to transfer back to voicemail.

This can be accomplished by assigning a second extension to each mailbox for faxes only. Enter the users new "fax" extension into the "secondary extension" field on the subscriber form. The user then publishes their fax number as the "secondary extension" (which of course requires a DID for faxes from outside parties). Faxes sent to both the subscriber extension and the secondary extension are retreived using the original subscriber extension (login to the mailbox normally).

Sounds good. Ideally was trying to use one extension without having the users pick up on a fax call and then transferring back to vm. No way for the system to detect an incoming fax (on a one extension scenerio)? Thanks for your help so far.
