Trouble changing 4600 IP station types

I'm trying to change the station type from 4606 to 4612 on some spectralink handhelds. Does anyone know how to unregister an IP station in software without actually busying and releasing the station?

Re: Trouble changing 4600 IP station types

I, too, have seen issue when trying to accomplish what you are. I'm not real sure why it happens but, when it does, my only 'quick' solution has been to delete the extension and recreate it. I thought for a while that it might be occurring when I physically move an extension from one card to another before making the software change but I've since been able to do that without incident ... Resetting loads the new config.

Re: Trouble changing 4600 IP station types

Are you talking about a 'reset sys 4'? or something else?

Thank you

Q.

Reset sys 4 is service affecting. If you do that, make sure your door is locked.

Instead try "hold 73738#" from the phone.

Ya, I meant resetting the phone - not the entire system. Should have been more careful with my wording!

Re: Trouble changing 4600 IP station types

Thanks for the heads up - any advice on this type of issue on a digital phone? I've seen this happen when trying to change from an analog to a digital and visa versa. Doesn't come up too frequently - but I've seen it more than once.

Re: Trouble changing 4600 IP station types

In this case you're probably better off deleting the phone first, then recreating it using the same extension number because you're doing more than just changing the set configuration(changing 4606 to 4612, it's still an IP phone - changing from IP to analogue, or analog to digital, you are changing the actual TYPE). (If you have a template to copy from it's not that big a deal.)

Cool deal - that's what I've had to do in the past. It's not a big deal at all - just wanted to find out if there were other ways around it - you know when you're in a hurry - seconds and minutes can make a difference. Thanks for your help folks!
