Busyout

I'm trying to use the command 'busyout board 1b16' and I'm getting a message saying 'cannot busyout online system synchronization source'. That board is one of my local PRI's. Has anyone seen this message and how do I get around it?

You must first change the synchronization source:

1) change sync - ensure that another synchronization source is defined
2) disable sync - to disable auto sync switch
3) set sync ppcss - where ppcss is the new DS1 card (i.e. 01a12)
4) enable sync - to re-enable auto sync switch.
5) status sync - to validate the sync change

Re: Busyout

I'm a bit nervous to do this. What exactly does this synch source do as I've never seen this before. What does it affect?

Re: Busyout

I just did a 'disp synch' and it shows that board 1b16 as the primary and it is listed on the list below.

Hey, if B16 is the current sync source and you have a valid reasaon to busy it out then you probably need to change the sync source anyway. The change is instantaneous and selecting a good sync source will save you countless heartaches in the future.

A very good description can be found in the following document, Chapter 4, Physical Layer, Synchronization:
